Well-Being Coaches (WBCs) are under the supervision of the Well-Being Programming & Outreach Graduate Assistant, Well-Being Coaching Student Supervisor, and the Assistant Director of Well-Being and Fitness within the Department of University Well-Being & Recreation as part of the Division of Student Affairs. The role of the Well-Being Coach is to provide appropriate and supportive well-being coaching and goal setting strategies to students. WBCs shall provide coaching through active listening, evidence-based goal-setting strategies, and providing individualized support for each student. Well-Being Coaches are expected to follow all protocols set forth by the Student Well-Being Coaching Service and to adhere to Ohio University Well-Being & Recreation's policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities:

* Provide students with effective and realistic goal setting strategies related to well-being

* Address students concerns open-mindedly and with evidence-based advice and strategies

* Serve as an active listener to each students needs and goals

* Provide educational resources or referrals to students who may be in need of additional support

* Maintain confidentiality of coaching sessions and student information

* Ability to empathize and navigate difficult conversations

* Act as a mandated reporter if information disclosed to them indicates risk of harm to the student or others

* Complete required trainings held by the department

* Communicate with students in a timely and professional manner

* Communicate with supervisor(s) about any concerns or questions

Time Commitments:

* Maintain a minimum of 6 work hours per week

* Attend and actively participate in scheduled staff meetings

* Ability to fulfill at least 1 shift per week and 2 workshops per semester

Actively contributes as a student staff member of the Department and Division that upholds the framework of equity and social justice. Performs job duties in a manner that appreciates diversity and fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the OHIO community. Actively participates in professional development opportunities when available and maintains current knowledge of emerging trends, best practices and related issues regarding all relevant areas of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

* At least 1 year remaining in school to be able to commit to the position

* Possess a passion for coaching

* Demonstrate empathy and a growth-mindset

* Ability to serve as a team player

* Demonstration of strong professionalism and ability to maintain client confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

* Seeking students who are interested in enhancing their ability to help students with their health & well-being goals.

* Experience working within a coaching or supportive environment

* Proficient communication skills and professionalism

* Self-motivated and willingness to take initiative

* Empathetic and understanding

* Personal focus on one's own well-being and health

* Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft systems and software
