This is a remote work position, but candidate may choose to work at ICJIA’s downtown Chicago office during the agency’s regular business hours Monday thru Friday (8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.) pending availability.
This is a full-time position. The selected candidate must work 37.5 hours per week. The selected candidate will start as soon as possible.
This position is TEMPORARY and does NOT include state benefits.

We are seeking a passionate social science researcher to provide evaluation support for the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) funded Safe from the Start (SFS) program, an intervention for young children exposed to violence and for their caregivers. The candidate will use their research skills to analyze program data gathered by nine Illinois SFS sites to identify implementation barriers and demonstrate program effectiveness. Project tasks include analyzing quantitative data, drafting reports and presentations, providing training and technical assistance to sites, assisting with revising evaluation procedures to better meet sites’ needs, and actively participating in team meetings.
1. Developing and implementing research methods.
2. Compiling, cleaning, and analyzing quantitative data using statistical software.
3. Summarizing research into practitioner and technical reports and making presentations to various audiences.
4. Providing training and technical assistance to community-based organizations.
5. Assisting with database rewrite by helping to identify database requirements and testing database functionality.
6. Performing other related duties as assigned.
Master's degree in criminology, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, social work, or a related field.
1. Prefers knowledge of scientific research methods equivalent to one year of experience conducting social science research.
2. Prefers ability to use analytic software (e.g., SPSS, R, Nvivo) equivalent to one year of experience using analytic software.
3. Prefers excellent verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated by six months experience drafting articles, reports, or presentations.
4. Prefers ability to deliver presentations to various professional and lay groups as demonstrated by experience giving at least one presentation at local, regional, or national conferences, workshops, or trainings.
5. Prefers knowledge of program evaluation as demonstrated by six months of experience assisting with or conducting a program evaluation OR completion of two graduate level courses on program evaluation.
