What You Will Do: The Aerodynamics & Acoustics team at RTX Technology Research Center invites individuals with aerodynamics expertise and strong experimental and analytical skills to apply for an open position. We are seeking a Senior Research Engineer to join our cohesive team of engineers and technicians who are focused on developing innovative technologies and solving challenging problems for aerospace and defense applications. The successful candidate will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams in areas such as propulsion systems, turbomachinery, compression systems, and high-speed flows. The candidate is expected to be innovative in the delivery of advanced technology through creative analysis and problem solving; to possess the ability to select and deploy appropriate experimental and modeling approaches for a given problem including the application of computational models; to communicate research results effectively through both verbal and written means; and to participate in the creation of research proposals to RTX business units and government agencies.
Qualifications You Must Have: - U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
- Excellent knowledge of fluid mechanics / aerodynamics / aeroelastics as applied to propulsion systems, rotor technologies, turbomachinery, compression systems, or high-speed flows with experience in the application of experimental techniques, diagnostics, and computational fluid dynamics in one or more of these areas.
- Experience in the application of analytical and experimental skills towards the development of new technologies.
Qualifications We Prefer: - Master's Degree or Ph.D. in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or closely related field.
- Ph.D. candidates with no formal experience will be considered. M.S. candidates must have 1+ years of experience in a relevant work environment.
- Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication skills, informal and formal presentation skills, and ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external partners.
- Ability to manage uncertain requirements, develop approaches to solve problems, and recognize when additional subject matter expertise is needed.

Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project
management. Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
Typically requires:
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
