The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for helping oversee the successful completion of programs and events. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Recreation Division Manager. Some weekend and evening hours will be required with this position. This position is Full Time with benefits. Position Responsibilities Coordinate planning, logistics, and production of County-sponsored and co-sponsored special events, festivals, recreational programs and camps to include but not limited to Family dances, Food Truck Rodeo, Family campouts, toddler programs and Pirate Fest while working with a variety of County departments and community organizations. Develop and maintain professional relationships with community and school officials to stimulate interest and develop recreation program support. Develop and maintain a volunteer and vendor database. Process program registration and reservations and collect fees. Provides various types of support functions to recreation programs and performs other duties as necessary to help contribute to the success of the department's mission. Assists with Summer Day Camp Staff planning and operations. Develop and maintain a volunteer database. Demonstrate record management and organizational skills. Performs related tasks as required. Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer. Qualifications Some knowledge of all phases of community recreation activities and their administration; some knowledge of the principles and methods of recreation program planning and development; ability to develop and execute a program of recreation activities; ability to cooperate with and interpret recreational philosophies to county officials, private groups, agencies and the general public; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County officials, the general public and associates; ability to communicate complex ideas both orally and in writing; ability to prepare Education, Experience, and Special Requirements Associates/Technical degree and moderate experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. Special Requirements: Valid driver's license. Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations. Dental Insurance Dental insurance is provided by MetLife to full-time employees and covers a percentage of basic to major dental procedures, including orthodontia for children and adults. Vision Insurance Vision insurance is provided by MetLife to full-time employees and covers a variety of materials (contacts and glasses frames/lenses) and an annual eye exam. North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the retirement system and must contribute 6% of their gross salary each pay period. Once eligibility requirements are met, employees will be able to receive monthly payments for life based on their salary, age, and years of service credit. NC401k The County contributes 1% of employees' gross salary into the 401(k) account regardless of the employee's deferral amount. In addition, the County matches employee deferrals up to an additional 4%. Vacation Leave Regular full-time employees earn 13.5 days of vacation leave per year. With each 5-year increment of employment, vacation accrual increases. Sick Leave Regular full-time employees earn 12 days of sick leave per year. Paid Holidays County employees receive paid holidays annually. The Board of County Commissioners approves and may adjust the schedule as deemed necessary. Teladoc Mental Health Services The County provides Teladoc Mental Health Services to help employees and their families with personal, family and job-related problems such as depression, and substance abuse concerns.
