Job Description
Alpha Media is seeking a professional news reporter for radio station
WJOL-AM in Joliet, Illinois . The ideal candidate must have at least two years of experience working in the newsroom of a medium to major market; must have a great attitude, exceptional work ethic, able to fill many roles from being the primary news reporter to traffic anchor and digital content creator.
This position is part-time, on-site, it is a 5.5 hour shift that starts at 5 AM Monday through Friday. Applicable training to be provided.
Responsibilities of this position may include the following: - Write and report the news.
- Operate on-air console and audio controls.
- Collaborate with show producers and the Content Director on the news of the day and prioritize coverage.
- Monitor all news coverage on local television affiliates, local newspapers, and local radio competitors.
- Available to be on-call after midnight for breaking news stories.
- Provide photos and video while covering news stories when applicable.
- Post stories to the station website and social media sites.
- Create video/audio content.
The job requires: - A sharp and alert early riser.
- Someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- The ability to interact with the listening audience;
- Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels;
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adhere to strict deadlines.
