Position Overview:

WFMZ-TV is seeking a dynamic and versatile Morning Reporter/Fill-In Anchor to join our award-winning team. The ideal candidate is a motivated journalist with a passion for storytelling, live reporting, and anchoring. This role requires someone who thrives in the fast-paced world of morning news and can deliver engaging content on-air and online.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a live reporter for the WFMZ morning newscast, delivering breaking news, feature stories, and enterprise reporting.
• Act as a fill-in anchor for the morning desk when needed, showcasing strong delivery, credibility, and professionalism.
• Develop and pitch original story ideas that resonate with our diverse audience.
• Conduct interviews, research topics thoroughly, and write clear, compelling scripts for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Collaborate with producers, photographers, and editors to deliver high-quality segments.
• Stay updated on local and national news trends to ensure timely and relevant coverage.
• Engage with the community and viewers through social media, appearances, and events.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of on-air reporting and/or anchoring experience, preferably in a morning or live-news environment.
• Exceptional on-air presentation and storytelling skills.
• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to handle breaking news under tight deadlines.
• Proficient in digital content creation and social media engagement.
• Ability to connect with a diverse audience and cover a wide range of topics, from hard news to human-interest stories.
• Team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
