Job Description

The Manager of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will lead the agency’s efforts to create a more inclusive and diverse workplace and is pivotal in advancing the mission and fostering an inclusive culture. They develop and implement strategies and initiatives that foster an environment where every employee feels valued, respected, and empowered to share their unique perspectives and experiences.

The Manager of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will work closely with leaders and employees to develop sustainable work plans that support a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. They will champion the agency’s equity-focused direction, drive change, make strategic recommendations, and ensure DEI values are integrated into all aspects of the agency.

Reports To: Senior Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

essential duties

Planning and Navigation

  1. Partner with the Senior Director of Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to design and implement DEI strategies that align with the agency's vision, mission, and values.
  2. Ensure successful practices in organizational development, change management, and employee engagement.
  3. Lead projects to integrate DEI into the core values and culture of the agency.
  4. Drive and manage changes to build a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
  5. Participate in the development of processes and systems to measure and promote accountability in DEI practices across all areas of operations, including recruitment, training, employee recognition, data and analytics, and communication.

Collaboration and Implementation

  1. Plan, coordinate, and execute DEI services, training sessions, and events in collaboration with various divisions, ensuring they are aligned with the agency’s strategic priorities.
  2. Provide guidance and support to the Employee Resource Groups by encouraging participation, education, meeting coordination and activities that promote diversity and inclusion within the agency.
  3. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with internal groups, taskforces, committees, and community groups and organizations to identify partnership opportunities, share information, and collaborate on events.
  4. Develop and implement sustainable communication strategies to raise awareness of DEI efforts and celebrate diversity achievements throughout the agency.

Evaluation

  1. Compile data and reports, create content for DEI projects, and coordinate outreach efforts.
  2. Collaborate with Information Services to create and maintain systems for tracking and analyzing diversity metrics, establish benchmarks and monitor progress toward DEI goals.
  3. Utilize data to evaluate the agency’s performance against strategic DEI goals and create recommendations for continuous improvement based on data analysis.
  4. Create and present reports that evaluate DEI initiatives and provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
  5. Manage the implementation of DEI workplans, ensuring alignment with the agency’s strategic priorities.

job requirements

a. Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a human-service field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in a diversity, equity and inclusion setting.
  3. Minimum of 2 years supervisory or management experience.
  4. Demonstrated working knowledge of MS365 Power Platform.

b. Additional Requirements

1. Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check after conditional job offer. 2. Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test. 3. Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment). 4. Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business, must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth. 5. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth. 6. Must successfully complete the following health certification requirements within 30 days of employment: CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens. 7. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. There are no exemptions.

  3. Strong commitment to Friends of Youth’s mission, vision, and values.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, organized, and adaptable.
  6. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  7. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  8. Able and willing to travel to multiple sites in personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided).
  9. Able to learn and implement relevant Council on Accreditation (COA) standards and participate in Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) processes.
  10. Proficient skill set with Microsoft Office programs.
