Purpose of Role The College Autism Transition Support (CATS) program is a fee-based program designed to provide additional academic, social, vocational and counseling support to matriculated students who may need assistance navigating and/or transitioning into a university environment.
About This Opportunity Joining our Accessibility Services team, the Life Skill Coach will be responsible for the following:
To meet with registered CATS participant(s) regularly during the academic year to help address academic and social goals only. Each CATS participant is expected to meet with the Life Skills Coach for 1-3 hours per week (based on need). Anticipated enrollment for the CATS program for the 2023/2024 academic year is currently three students, so total hours worked each week will be between 4 and 10 hours per week based on participant need.
- Assist CATS participant(s) to identify individualized goals and develop individualized strategies to obtain those goals in areas such as self-advocacy, communication, organization, time management, planning and prioritizing, studying, problem-solving, self-monitoring, decision-making, stress management, and self-awareness.
- Address specific needs, challenges, and behaviors the participant may experience in navigating the university setting.
- Serve as a role model for the participant(s) in social situations and provide support and resources so the participant may become an active member of the campus community (clubs, activities, sports, intramurals, etc.).
- Collaborate with program participants to identify and address social needs and navigate challenging situations.
- Meet with the Director of Accessibility Services each week and maintain case notes.
- Attend 3-4 hours of paid Life Skills Coach training to be completed before August 31, 2023.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in social work or related field; enrollment in Master's degree program preferred
- Interest in working with college students on the autism spectrum.
- Highly motivated, independent, and organized with strong time management skills Accessibility.

Rate of Pay: $22.00 per hour (10 month position) 15-20 hours per week.
