Paradise Valley Country Club is hiring a Lead Gardener. Pay Range: $20-24.00 per hour DOE Location: 7101 N. Tatum Blvd. Paradise Valley, AZ 85253 Hours: Must be able to start at 5:00am. 8-hour shift. We Are Seeking A Lead Gardener that takes pride in their work and will care for and beatify our focal areas around the Country Club Grounds /Clubhouse. Requirements
Qualifications: •High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
•Valid driver's license
•Three years of experience gardening for Resorts, Country clubs, Golf courses, Botanical gardens, Zoos, Theme parks, Estate's, University's, or in the Private sector.
•Professional gardening experience in Arizona.
•Proven experience in gardening and landscaping, with a strong understanding of proper planting, annual flowers, perennial shrubs, and proper pruning techniques.
•Knowledge of local plant species, soil types, fertilizing, and climate conditions.
•Ambitious, well-organized, and excited about gardening and garden design.
•Physically fit, loves outdoor work, and has a good attitude.
•Self-assured, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or with a team.
•Flexible with ever-changing schedules during peak seasons.
•Experienced in working with high-end clients and directing others.
•Excellent communication skills and a great problem solver.
•Ability to lift 25-50 lb.
Responsibilities: •Working under minimal supervision, maintaining an acceptable physical appearance.
•Perform the full range of routine landscape maintenance duties, determining when they are necessary and carrying them out independently in most cases.
•Direct routine phases of grounds maintenance and serve as a resource for grounds maintenance.
•Lead Annual flower transitions and maintain flower beds/pots.
•Collaborate with the Horticulture supervisor and other lead gardener.
•Make quantity decisions relating to plants, soil amendments and fertilizers as directed.
•Provide weed and pest control based on best practices of Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
•Work includes but is not limited to pruning, cleaning, planting, fertilizing, retrofitting, and adjusting existing irrigation systems.
•Coordinate irrigation and supplemental hand watering schedules.
•Provide recommendations or treatment of landscape problems, new plant material selection, irrigation upgrades and other maintenance programs.
•Assist with special events as needed.
•Occasionally perform seated work, kneel/crawl, climb (ladders) reach/work above shoulders, perform work which require light/fine grasping.
•May be required to work weekends, holidays, and extreme weather conditions.
