Description Inclusion Assistants Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation (THPRD) is actively seeking Inclusion Assistants to join our dynamic team! At THPRD, our Inclusion program is all about empowering individuals of all abilities by promoting the power of choice to enhance their quality of life. Inclusion Assistants play a pivotal role in our programs by providing invaluable support to individuals with physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities of all ages who participate in THPRD district programs.
Role Overview As an Inclusion Assistant, your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks, including:
- Adapting activities to meet participant needs
- Following inclusion or success plans
- Ensuring a safe environment
- Facilitating participants' success in our programs
- Assisting with additional support tasks as needed
Our camps, classes, and programs are hosted weekly at various THPRD park sites across the district, so be prepared to work outdoors, on various surfaces, and in varying environmental conditions each week. Typical Hours Potential shift options:
- Morning: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
- Mid-day: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
- After school: 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
- Evening programs starting at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m.
Part-time employees are scheduled variable flexible hours and may work less than 1,560 hours per year.
Experience We welcome applicants with any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Specific preferences include:
- Experience providing Inclusion support in a recreational environment
- Direct experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Familiarity with working with individuals displaying challenging behaviors
- Experience with specific areas of recreation is desirable for site-specific placements (e.g., sports, nature programming, general summer camps, etc.)
Other Job Requirements - A valid Driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Current First Aid & CPR certification, (required)
- Must be at least 18 years of age

Leave - Paid Time Off - Paid leave type for part-time variable and part-time benefits (PTB) eligible employees. Paid Time Off (PTO), will accrue at a rate of one (1) hour earned for every 30 hours worked. This is in addition to Sick leave and may be scheduled by employees for any reason! (available to PT and PTB only)
- The ability to earn and utilize up to forty (40) hours of paid sick leave per year
- Family Medical Leave eligibility for qualified family and medical related reasons
- Paid compassionate leave is available to all part-time employees to grieve the loss of an immediate family member, to make arrangements (if necessary), and to attend memorial services. Employees are eligible for paid compassionate leave for up to the hours scheduled in their average work week.
