Job Description

Overview:

Research assistant will be responsible for biological sample collection for children (4 months- 6 years of age) scheduled for their well child check appointment at Peoples Community Clinic. Additionally, will need to ensure caregivers of children sign informed consent and complete a parent questionnaire to understand environmental and social factors impacting childs health. Assist in data entry for collected samples within clinics i2i system, and submit de-identified data about participants to a team of scientists working with the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University.

This is a Part-Time position, working 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

• Biological sample collection which includes saliva, buccal cells, hair, and blood.
• Maintain data inventory of pediatric participants and type of samples gathered from each.
• Coordinate and prepare samples for international shipping to labs further analyzing biological samples.
• Ensure sterilization and disinfecting of materials and exam room used for sample collection.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college, specifically science, technology, engineering, and mathematics courses, preferred.

Experience: Bilingual (English-Spanish) required. Experience working with children between birth and 6 years of age.

• Ability to work with people of many cultures.
• Ability to take initiative and willingness to learn.
• Understanding of date entry and confidentiality.
