Job DescriptionFootball Recruiting Specialist
The Recruiting Specialist oversees and directlyparticipates in all aspects of the football recruiting operation. He/she makes the initial decision on allprospective recruits, determines the appropriate response, and makes follow-uprecommendations to the General Manager. The Recruiting Specialist implements all recruiting functions and visitsby prospective student-athletes. Onrecruiting weekends, he/she is responsible for working in conjunction withrecruiting staff for booking function space, creating menus, and coordinatingall travel and lodging for each recruit and their families in order to meet therecruit's individual needs.
For allofficial visits, the Recruiting Specialist works with Learning Resources forStudent-Athletes and Deans of various schools on campus to set up interviewswith appropriate faculty and staff which match the individual student'sacademic interests. In his/her role as"goodwill ambassador" for the football program, he/she ensures that eachprospect sees all of the resources that Boston Collegehas to offer. This position serves a keyrole in making an initial positive impression of the Boston Collegefootball program. The RecruitingSpecialist is responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation ofmajor recruiting functions such as Junior Day, Signing Day, and variousrecruiting and game weekends.
Theincumbent assists with on-site operations during away contests, including bowltravel. He/she is actively involved inthe development and implementation of programs related to the Boston CollegeFootball Camp, including the operation and management of camp activities duringthe summer months. Based on his/herknowledge of the recruiting software, the Recruiting Specialist ensures thatthe recruiting database is properly maintained and provides the data requiredfor decision-making by the coaching staff.
This position monitors each incoming student-athlete to make certainthat all necessary requirements are known and met including Boston Collegemedical issues, Sports Medicine / Athletic Training physicals, and the NCAAClearinghouse. In addition to allofficial, non-official / recruiting functions, the Recruiting Specialistcoordinates the May recruiting calendar based on input from each coach.
The Recruiting Specialist is responsible forthe supervision of volunteer workers, paid work-study students, and theGraduate Assistant for Recruiting. Aswell as the recruiting aspects of the position, this role takes onresponsibility working with the Boston College Football Team. The Recruiting Specialist must be able to have aworking relationship with entire football staff, members of the LearningResources for Student Athletes, the Athletic Compliance staff, the AthleticBusiness Office, and the Office of the Athletic Director.
Salary range is 52-66K depending on relevant experience.
RequirementsFootball Recruiting Specialist
Proficiency withMicrosoft, Excel, FileMaker Pro, and recruiting software is a must.
Minimum requirement of 2-3 years of previousexperience within a similar environment.
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
Knowledge ofNCAA rules and regulations (particularly football-specific rules) and ACCconference policies is a must.
Requiresthe successful completion of the NCAA Coaches Certification Exam.
