  1. Kenl-Inn Dog Training Manager facilitates and coordinates educational classes, training in safety and dog training. Responsible for the administration of safety functions within KENL INN in the most professional, timely, accurate, and profitable manner. Conduct or delegate on-site safety inspections. Coordinate, facilitate or delegate safety training presentations in staff meetings and/or training events. Ensure state, federal and company documentation is accurate and legally sound. Coordinate, facilitate or delegate the various dog training schedules and classes. Develop additional dog training activities/programs. Directly reports to the General Manager for proper direction, interpretation and evaluation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Coordinates and instructs others in dog training, following KENL INN training program guidelines

- Directly supervises other trainers

- Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with KENL INNS policies and applicable laws

- Selects, develops and uses training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate to dogs and owners

- Communicates effectively with owner-customers and potential clients to promote the dog training classes and public education

- Effectively communicates to customers the supplies needed to successfully complete each training class and to maintain a well-behaved dog

- Creates and maintains marketing efforts to promote dog training classes, workshops, and/or canine education events

- Monitors and assesses each class to determine strong and weak points, to improve overall quality

- Gathers data on each class to suggest improvements in policies, procedures, places, times, methods, etc.

- Ensures the area used to conduct classes is clean, stocked with proper equipment, and safe for both customers and dogs

- Advises customers in solving various training and behavior problems, and items needed to assist in solving those problems

- Motivates customers and dogs to ensure both achieve success and satisfaction with training services

- Research, develop, design, and write marketing literature and other promotional materials i.e., brochures.

- Ensure materials are professional and present KENL INNS services in a positive and detailed manner.

- Continue to update website.

- Follow instructions, respond to Management direction, and take responsibility for own actions.

- Complete tasks on time or notify appropriate person with an alternate plan.

- Prioritize and plan work activities. Use time efficiently and plan for additional resources.

- Set goals and objectives and develop realistic action plans.

- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, i.e., personnel, safety, and equipment maintenance and up-keep.

- Become proficient in areas of production and safety policies and procedures, i.e., lockout/tagout, accident/injury, hazard communication, emergency exit, personal protective equipment, etc.

- Facilitate and coordinate educational classes and training. Provide pet-related training to customers and the public i.e., obedience, agility, tracking, and conformation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES-

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing-

Ability to communicate with dogs effectively while training-

Ability to be enthusiastic about dogs and their wellbeing-

Ability to provide training and supervision for dogs in a safe, nurturing environment -

Ability to collaborate closely with owners to ensure all clients receive quality service from KENL INN-

Ability to assess and make appropriate decisions regarding dog behavior-

Ability to collaborate with other staff to ensure safety and training procedures and initiatives are implemented-

Skilled at possessing professionalism, courtesy, tact, and sound judgment

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, staff, customers, and the public-

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.-

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.-

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have three to five years of experience and education in dog training and behavior
  • Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent
  • Must 19 years of age able to work inside the United States
  • Necessary requirement - Ability to work overtime, holidays and weekends
  • Salary Range - compensation depending on experience!
