Urban Pooch Training and Fitness Center in Chicago, IL is looking to hire a full-time Dog Enrichment Counselor to supervise pooches in daycare, participate in enrichment activities, and ensure the safety of the playgroup. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ENRICHMENT COUNSELOR

As a Dog Enrichment Counselor, you are a favorite with the dogs in our care. The pooches might think the enrichment activities are just for fun, but you know the pups are learning, too. As you lead the activities the coordinator determines, you keep a close eye on the pets in order to report on their conduct and to be sure that they're safe. You check that the equipment and obstacles are secure and that the animals aren't overly stressed. Well-trained yourself, you use praise and redirection techniques to maintain acceptable levels of play. When the playgroup ends, you perform a variety of other tasks such as cleaning and organizing to ensure that our facility remains in perfect shape for the pets. It's a fun day for you and the pooches. You feel lucky to have a job you enjoy so much!

QUALIFICATIONS

• Work experience in providing animal care
• Ability to get dogs to respond to training cues
• Basic understanding of positive reinforcement in training
• Ability to perform the physical requirements for the job, including the capacity to lift up to 25 pounds
