Bioinformatics Programmer CoLabs Admin Full Time

Job Summary We are seeking a bioinformatics programmer with a B.S., M.S., or equivalent, in fields relating to molecular biology, bioinformatics or computer science. Working as part of a multidisciplinary group and independently, the bioinformatics programmer will perform statistical analyses of high throughput genomics data, especially bulk-cell and single-cell RNA-sequencing data, by developing novel, and using or adapting existing computational pipelines and algorithms. The job candidate will write code to process genomic data sets, generate reports, and present the results to collaborators. S/he will work from standard analysis pipelines and modify code to fit individual projects. S/he will interact closely with core lab members and collaborate with other bioinformaticians doing similar work at UCSF and elsewhere. Primary job responsibilities: Carrying out data analysis on bulk cell and single cell RNA-seq projects. Carrying out analysis of ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Whole genome sequencing and other NGS approaches. Developing novel workflows for NGS sequencing analysis. Communicating and providing results to researchers using the core. Provide bioinformatic support during sequencing QC. Support research efforts of labs utilizing next generation sequencing technologies. Job requirements: Understanding of basic molecular genetics. Experience working with next generation sequencing (NGS) methodologies and applications. Proficient in Python and R. Experience working in Linux/Unix systems, including using command line tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills for working in a multidiscipline and collaborative team. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in molecular biology, bioinformatics, computer science or related field Minimum of 1 year of directly related experience. Knowledge of molecular genetic principles. Proficient in Python and R. Strong consultation and communication skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills for working in a multidiscipline and collaborative team. Experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) methodologies and applications.
