Your Role as an Assistant Teacher As an Assistant Teacher, youll work closely with the
Lead Teacher to deliver a nurturing, safe, and educational classroom environment for infants, toddlers, or preschool-age children. Youll help implement
play-based learning activities , manage classroom routines, and provide individualized attention that supports each childs social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Key Responsibilities - Support daily routines including circle time, story time, snack, outdoor play, and rest time
- Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation based on childrens developmental needs and interests
- Supervise children during classroom transitions, group play, and hands-on activities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment aligned with state licensing regulations
- Encourage independence, self-help skills, and social interaction through positive guidance strategies
- Observe and document childrens behavior and milestones for communication with families and the teaching team
- Provide age-appropriate support for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers , depending on assigned classroom
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive, inclusive early childhood learning environment
Qualifications - Previous experience in child care, preschool, daycare, or toddler education (preferred)
- Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP)
- Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to multitask, follow classroom structure, and adapt to childrens needs
- High school diploma or GED required
- CDA or enrollment in Early Childhood Education courses (preferred but not required)
