Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable 8th Grade History Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for history and a strong commitment to educational excellence. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging history lessons, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and a love for history.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum requirements.

* Teach 8th grade history, covering topics such as American history, government, and geography, using a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.

* Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

* Assess and document student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.

* Utilize technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience.

* Encourage critical thinking, debate, and analysis of historical events and their impact on the present and future.

* Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement cross-curricular activities and projects.

* Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education.

* Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators.

* Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.

* Create a classroom culture that encourages respectful interactions, curiosity, and a growth mindset.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in History, Education, or a related field.

* Previous teaching experience, preferably in a middle school setting.

* Strong knowledge of American history and effective teaching strategies.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to create an engaging and supportive classroom environment.

* Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes.

* Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.

* Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree

* Experience with project-based learning and interactive teaching methods.

* Familiarity with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards.

* Valid Texas teaching certification for secondary education with a focus on Social Studies or History.
